The first day we were using the Fina system I came out of my office and asked Scott where all my blocks were. When he said they were already filed I didn’t believe him…until he showed me. And that made me a believer! I had never seen that many blocks filed before that time in the day.

From One decision can change the workflow drastically
With the increasing rate of clinical trial participation, the worst call you can make in the Asset Management Services is telling a patient that you do not have their block and they cannot enter a trial.

Streamlining laboratory workflow with Fina and Crystal systems
We have witnessed a profound revolution to our laboratory. This automatic and traceable system has not only secured the precious and large amount of blocks and slides in our lab, but also alleviated our workload of archiving by approximately 70%

Reducing Archiving and Retrieval Time with Fina
In conclusion, I would say that the Fina and Crystal systems are very simple to use, robust and reliable. They have allowed us to save a lot of time on archiving of blocks and slides and to have an excellent level of traceability. We no longer lose blocks or slides, which allows us to work more serenely.

Reducing Archiving and Retrieval Time with Fina
We have saved a few hours a day in archiving blocks and slides. We no longer have the problem of misplaced blocks or slides, traceability with Fina and Crystal allows us to work with complete peace of mind. Today, no one would want to go back to manual archiving. For the slides, traceability is even more important because of different approvers, and we also carry out a lot of research projects.

Is the automation of block and slide archiving essential?
We would not like to go back to the way things were, even if the doctors find that retrieval the slides is more restrictive than before. Today, we no longer lose blocks or slides and we save a lot of time in archiving them, especially for the slides. A time often equal to one FTE was spent on archiving and can now be reinvested in other on other value-added tasks, such as stock management or inventory management for example.

Overcoming archiving inefficiences with Fina
“Patient safety is very important to me and being at a large institution and the type of cases we get, we are constantly going back to our blocks, whether it be for additional testing or research for a clinical trial, and being able to locate them in a timely manner and track them is the most important thing for me.
